Opening May 6

New Work by Elizabeth Guipe Hall

May 2011
Harrison Gallery, Harrison Center for the Arts, 1505 N. Delaware St.

Opening reception: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 6

In this new exhibition at the Harrison Center, where she maintains a studio, Hall applies her beeswax collage technique to photographic images from a six-week fellowship in Mexico’s southern Oaxaca state, supported by a Lilly Endowment grant. The luminous, layered works evoke the vibrance and pageantry of the region’s historic culture, with its mix of indigenous, colonial and contemporary influences.

The opening reception highlights the center’s First Friday open-studio event on May 6, which will include refreshments, entertainment and other art exhibitions.
